Asthma is a disease that occurs in the breathing tubes of the lungs. People with asthma have sensitive breathing tubes that react to common everyday substances called triggers. Occasionally, people with asthma may complain of periods of diffi cult breathing and asthma symptoms. These periods are called asthma attacks or asthma episodes.
